Bolton Events for the Year!

The 2016 Bolton Food  and Drink Festival attracted  a quarter of a million visitors  as well as scooping  a competitive  national award for having the finest food market in the UK awarded by the National Organization of British Market Authorities. .  This is the second major award for Bolton ,the food and beverage celebration won the ‘Best Food Market ‘group at the British Market of the Year Honours earlier in 2016 . Visitors travelled from Europe Eg.  France and Germany and from all over the UK to sample food as well as drink from over 200 traders, and to enjoy interactions and workshops with the leading cooks.

Bolton Food and Drink Celebration is arranged by the Bolton Council, in association with local  restaurants and the 4 day food celebration takes place  each year on the August National holiday weekend.

The Bolton  council also organised the unique Xmas programme, from December10 to January 8 in 2016  to attract  visitors  to Bolton and also to boost the Christmas shopping experience for residents and for traders in the  town centre. The town  was transformed into a fabulous Christmas destination, with a man-made 55-metre snow slide in Newport Street, a protected ice rink in Victoria Square and also Santa’s grotto in Oxford Road. Various other tourist attractions included camels, reindeer, a Santa’s Express train, and an artisan market with a vintage bus . The Christmas Market included  40 traders selling seasonal goods and  a variety of produce.

Preparation for next year’s Food and Drink Festival  is  already well underway, as usual it will take place on Bank Holiday August weekend with an exciting mix of celebrity  and local chefs, unique workshops and demonstrations, and also the market trader stalls.

The Xmas Lights Turn on is  planned for Thursday 23 with the Winter season Celebration Saturday 2 Dec to Sunday 7 Jan. There are no shortages of  enormously popular events in  Bolton, on of the best attended events this year was the  Iron Man UK event  and the  Iron kids . This took place on the weekend break of 15 and 16 July; Bolton Pride parade is another equally fantastic  and popular event that was on Friday 29and Saturday 30 September. On Sunday 1 October, Bolton veterans and their relatives and visitors held the  celebrations for Armed Forces Day  on Sat 24 June and will celebrate Remembrance Sunday on  Nov12 , there’s something for everybody this year in Bolton community centre.
